Crackerjack!

Lindsay - It's Friday, it's 5 to 5 and it's CRACKERJACK. Do you remember the olden days, when there were only three channels, and even then they only started at about 3.00pm when school finished. Children are so sophisticated nowadays, and I think a lot of it has to do with the programmes they watch on the television. We were quite happy with Magpie, How, HR Puff and stuff. Now if its not a car that transforms into a robot while saving the planet from destruction or Miley Cyrus strutting around at the age of 14 looking about 24… how old do I sound even the police look too young! What programmes can you remember?

Angela – I remember Magpie - One for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl and four for a boy and...was it five for a secret never to be told, or have I missed some? My memory’s not all it should be. I have a few favourites, Banana Splits, Rentaghost and Wacky Races. I also loved the spin off – Stop The Pigeon – I still find myself singing the theme tune when my dog Bailey attempts to chase pigeons!! I have to admit that I never ever watched Byker Grove, even though it was filmed in the area, but haven’t PJ and Duncan come a long way since those early days.

Lindsay – I used to work on Byker Grove as a Nanny, my claim to fame was that I looked after PJ and Duncan in between their scenes and also appeared in a few scenes when they needed extras, it saved them having to pay anyone. My other claim to fame was that I was on Family Fortunes… gosh I do have a good memory!

Angela – That means you’ve had your 15 minutes of fame! Well, it’s taken us so long to get round to finishing this blog that the world cup’s all but over! Such a poor show for England – it put a complete dampener on my son’s 21st birthday. Still, as a Newcastle fan I’m used to disappointment – I’ve got my fingers crossed that I’m not disappointed this year though... I was backing Brazil or Germany to win, before Brazil got knocked out! Who would have thought I’d hear myself say I wanted Germany to win but they have knocked out Argentina, so that's a bonus.

Lindsay – Well I had Brazil in the sweep so when England got knocked out, convincingly, my cheers were with the Brazilians...until they got knocked out too! Now, I'm not sure who I'd like to see win, although I'm swinging towards the Netherlands.
